AI Quick Tips 196: 2 ways to get better answers from AI chatbots

One of the more common things that we hear from people (regarding AI chatbots like ChatGPT) is some version of -

“It doesn’t give me good results.  I am not going to use it anymore”

If you feel the same way, I am not here to talk you out of it.

If you don’t like the results that you are getting and you’d like to know how to get better results, that’s why I’m here.

One of the big reasons why people don’t get the type of results that they are looking for is because most people are not used to going through a creative back and forth process through writing.  We usually talk things out.  And, whether we realize it or not, we don’t write the same way that we talk (unless we practice a LOT).

There are two things that I will recommend trying to improve your results -

  1. Use voice mode
      1. Not dictation mode, where you talk, it transcribes and responds to you with text.  A voice mode where you talk to the chatbot and the chatbot “talks” back to you.  This is more familiar to most people and they often get better results in the early stages of using chatbots
        1. In ChatGPT this is called Advanced Voice Mode.  Other tools have different names for it
  2. Prompt the chatbot to help you by asking the questions that it thinks that you should be asking but aren’t
    1. This will usually lead to the output including the common questions around the topic.  A lot of times it is either what you wanted to ask or it reminds you what you wanted to ask
