# AI Quick Tips 201: Talk through what you do and let AI write your SOPs

You really want to document the things that you do but you don’t want to spend the time writing it out.  Sound familiar?

Have you considered talking with [AI](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/tag/ai) tools like [ChatGPT](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/tag/chatgpt) or [Gemini](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/tag/gemini)and having them turn that into your standard operating procedures (SOPs)?

You can follow these steps to get started -

- Open your AI tool of choice 
    - We’ll use [ChatGPT](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/tag/chatgpt) for this example
- Prompt it to let it know what you will be doing 
    - I.e., ***“I am going to talk through my process for \[task\].  Your job will be to take what I am saying and output a step-by-step standard operating procedure that can be used by other staff members to complete \[task\]”*** 
          - Replace \[task\] with whatever you are talking about
- Enter advanced voice mode
- Talk through your process
- Exit advanced voice mode
- Review the output (SOP) 
- Use follow-up prompts as necessary to correct any errors 
    - Point out exactly what is wrong and ask [ChatGPT](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/tag/chatgpt) to write it again

That’s it!

You can also upload an SOP template that you want [ChatGPT](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/tag/chatgpt) to follow (or have it create a template for all of your SOPs).
