You don’t always have to have AI tools do something for you.  You can also have them work with you on tasks.

One area where this can be useful is strategic planning.

Here is a prompt template that you can start with and modify to your situation -

You are an expert strategic planner in [field] who is known for writing [characteristics of the output that you want - i.e. concise, impactful] strategic plans

Your task is to work with me to create a strategic plan for [project, program, etc.]  The focus of the plan will be [plan's focus] with the following deliverables [deliverables list]

Here are some examples of problems that need to be addressed [list of problems]

I am not sure where to start with this so I would like you to ask me logical questions based off of the information provided so far.  Use my answers to gather information for the plan and steer the rest of the consult

And here is an example of a filled out prompt for a nonprofit organization that wants to restructure -

You are an expert strategic planner in nonprofit operations and structure who is known for writing comprehensive strategic plans

Your task is to work with me to create a strategic plan for nonprofit name #5 The focus of the plan will be a complete restructuring of the organization with the following deliverables -

    • Mission, vision, values statements
    • 5-year roadmap
    • Board positions and duties document
    • Program recommendations

Here are some examples of problems that need to be addressed -

    • Low community awareness of the organization
    • Low volunteer interest
    • Insufficient funding
    • The board member-to-staff member ratio is too high

I am not sure where to start with this so I would like you to ask me logical questions based off of the information provided so far.  Use my answers to gather information for the plan and steer the rest of the consult

Note - I purposely didn’t name the organization as an example in case you don’t want to put business-sensitive information into AI tools.  You can easily put in other information and edit the output afterwards.
