AI Quick Tips 295: Are you using Claude yet?

Seriously.  Are you using it yet?  Well, why not?

I won’t say that Claude is the “best”.  At this point, there isn’t a “best”, there are different tools that do different things (and in some cases they do different things well).

I will say that Claude’s Opus models are consistently ranked at or near the top of reasoning/thinking/coding/logic comparisons.

Claude also has Claude Code which is a very capable version of Claude that runs in your terminal.  If you aren’t technical and don’t know what a terminal is, it basically allows Claude Code to do anything that you can do on your computer (with your permission of course).  Claude Code can also, well, code.  You don’t need to necessarily know how to code, and you can still use Claude Code to solve problems with code (i.e., create an application, give you the code to edit your webpage, etc.)  And if you do know how to code (or are willing to learn…), Claude Code becomes useful at a level that’s honestly hard to describe.

Claude has a lot of other features like skills, artifacts, cowork (a version of Claude Code that doesn’t run in the terminal), deep research, MCPs, etc.  They’ve added Claude to Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and it does a better job than Copilot (Microsoft’s AI chatbot/tool).

I won’t pretend to be able to even scratch the surface of what you could do with Claude.  At this stage, if you haven’t used Claude yet, know that there is another option besides ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot that a lot of people like better for certain tasks.

If you are interested enough to look into it, go to claude.ai to get started.
