AI Quick Tips 320: Have you tried the Gemini function in Sheets?

Well, it might be called the =AI function. It’s not clear.

Either way, you can use Gemini at the cell level within a spreadsheet with the =AI function. Just go to the cell where you want to start and type “=AI”

You’ll get back instructions on how to structure your function, examples of how you could use it, etc.

It looks like Google’s answer to Microsoft’s =Copilot function.

I haven’t really found a reason to use this over the normal Gemini within Sheets. It might just be a preference thing. Either way, you’ll have to specify the cell or range that you want to use and write out instructions for what to do.

This could also just be phase 1 of this feature. By the time you read this, they might have changed it drastically or gotten rid of it. Hopefully not though, people seem to like it.
