AI Quick Tips 332: More Google I/O 2026 conference highlights

Written by Damien Griffin | May 28, 2026 5:00:00 PM

If you read the last post about the conference and thought “that was a lot”, they were just getting started…

Here are some more things that they’ve announced -

  • Smart Glasses - It’s still early in the process but the prototypes connect to phones and/or smart watches and have lots of Gemini features
  • Ask YouTube - You will be able to ask a question and Gemini will take you to the exact time in the video that has the answers
  • Google Search - they will unify “AI mode” and regular search
  • Project Genie - their AI world model tool will link to real places with a Google Maps Street View integration
  • Gemini Omni - a new video model that is aware of the world and can integrate your avatar (look and sound) into creations
  • Google AI Ultra plan changes - they introduced a new $100/month plan and reduced their top plan from $250/month down to $200.month

There are also many subtle changes where they are integrating Gemini (or other AI tools) into existing products. I think that the idea is that people already use Google tools so why not enhance the experiences.

Also a big focus on agents which will likely be a new concept for casual AI users.

I’m sure there will be more…
