The models have been out for a few months now, which is an eternity in AI-years but they still might have snuck them by you.
A big reason why a lot of people have no idea about this Meta model family (say that 3 times fast) is because Meta has been in the open-source AI model space with their Llama models for so long. Those models were arguably the first popular open-source models since ChatGPT blew up the category.
They now have a “Meta Superintelligence Labs” division and these models are called Muse Spark. They are multimodal, thinking/reasoning, support tool-use, visual chain of thought and multi-agent orchestration.
Meta also says that Muse Spark is the “first step” on their scaling ladder and the “first product of a ground-up overhaul of” their AI efforts. They are investing in research, model training, infrastructure (data centers, etc.) and likely more.
