Now that Gemini Notebook has graduated from Google Labs (it used to be NotebookLM), it seems like they are piling on the features. I don’t hear anyone complaining…
One of the many things they’ve added is the ability to create new types of artifacts. They don’t make it obvious though. To get to any of them, you have to use chat and prompt for them (not difficult but also not intuitive).
Some of the new types of output that you can ask for are -
- PDF Documents (.pdf)
- Microsoft Word Documents (.docx)
- Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations (.pptx)
- Microsoft Excel Workbooks (.xlsx)
- CSV files (.csv)
- New image formats (.png, .jpg)
- Etc.
To create any of them, just follow the basic Gemini Notebook workflow -
- Go to notebook.google.com
- Create a notebook or open an existing notebook
- Add at least one source (or verify that you have at least one source added already)
- Select at least one source
- Prompt in the chat area for the artifact type that you want (i.e. pdf)
- Add any context that will be needed to give you the output that you want to see
- If you don’t get what you want, prompt again and point out what to do differently
