Google is continuing to integrate AI features into its existing products. One of the more recent additions is audio overviews to certain types of file types in Google Drive.
Audio Overviews were the feature that put Gemini Notebook (NotebookLM at the time) on the map. They are basically AI-generated “podcasts” (I have to put it in quotes because they are not actually podcasts) that have 2 hosts who discuss whatever topics.
They are extremely realistic.
Now, when you are in Google Drive, you can click on the “More actions” menu on files like Docs and select “Create an audio overview”.
It can take a while to generate one so if you end up leaving Drive to do something else, you will get an email when the audio overview is ready. They will be saved in My Drive → Audio Overviews by default.
If you’ve never heard one before, I recommend creating one just to hear what you’ve been missing. It’s crazy how far technology has come.
Crazy times!
