Full disclosure - I have not tried this yet. But it’s on the internet, so it must be true…
For anyone who is still here after that comment, let’s press on
Apparently, you can have an AI tool like ChatGPT create a customized grocery list for you with the following steps:
- Open your fridge
- Take pictures of the items that are in there
- You might have to move some things to get good pictures of the items in the back
- Use the images as part of an input prompt to ChatGPT
- Ask it to put all of the things that you need more of into a list, spreadsheet, etc.
- You can define the parameters for what you need in the prompt (i.e., if something is less than 30% full or if you have all the ingredients to make a certain dish)
- You can also tell it the layout of the store and have it organize the list to match
- You can allegedly give it the map of the store layout (usually available on their website)
Caveats
- I have not tried this, so I am not sure that it would work
- All of the things listed are supported, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work
- The free version of ChatGPT probably won’t be able to do this (can’t analyze images)
- Maybe it will be able to by the time you read this (since they add features daily)
- You will be limited by the quality of your images
This method can also be used on your pantry.
If this actually works it is a GAME CHANGER.
