November 1, 2026 ![Picture of Damien Griffin](https://app.hubspot.com/settings/avatar/20cb51297a34e5d5d7c3362ec1fae755) [Damien Griffin](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/blog/author/damien) ![BizTech Q&A](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/hubfs/BizTech%20Q%26A%20(1).png) *Answering your questions about business and technology* ### Question *Since Google is getting rid of Opal, are there alternatives that you recommend? ~ Dave* ### Answer Hi Dave, I don’t think that there is a direct replacement but, depending on what you want to do, there are options. Google says that skills within Gemini app will be able to replace Opal. I agree to a point. If you liked/needed the visual editor, it will be really difficult to switch to the text-only skills. Functionally, they should work though. There are several workflow-creation tools that exist and work well. The issue with them is that you will have to connect to whichever models you want to use (language models, image creation models, videos models, etc.) and also pay for each API call. That can add up fast. If you are okay with that, here is a short list of options - - - Zapier - [Make.com](http://make.com) - N8n - Google Workspace Studio (requires a Workspace plan) - Many other options exist here… Another option, if you are technically inclined and/or adventurous, is to use Gemini to create your own version of Opal. To be fair, you could also use a ChatGPT, Claude, etc. but I think that Gemini is most likely to get this right since it is another Google product. You’ll have to specify what features from Opal you want and also, what you want the interface to look like. This gives you the most creative control and the best chance to get something just like Opal. It will also take the longest and will be the most likely to have issues (at least near-term). Make sure you save your existing Opal workflows. Either in Google Drive or take a screenshot/picture of each workflow so you can re-create them (or have Gemini do it). Hope that helps. ~ Damien --- #### Watch the video:   ![Next-Level AI Workshops (2000 x 1000 px)](https://thoughtsbrewing.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Next-Level%20AI%20Workshops%20(2000%20x%201000%20px).png?width=600&height=496&name=Next-Level%20AI%20Workshops%20(2000%20x%201000%20px).png) ## Plan your custom workshop now Get more from today's AI tools without needing a computer science degree.
