How can I ensure that output from AI tools are accurate?  ChatGPT keeps giving me incorrect answers

Hi Bill,

First of all, thank you for the question.

The short answer, that people don’t like, is that you can’t guarantee that the answers will be accurate.  Keep in mind that this is similar to asking a person a question.  I get confidently wrong answers from people all the time.  

If the information matters to you, there are a few things that you can do to make it more likely that the output is correct -

• Cross-reference the answers with a trusted source
• .Ask the same question in a different tool
  • If you use ChatGPT, then ask the same question with Gemini or Claude.  Or you could go backwards and start with the answer and ask the other tool to tell you about it.
• Make sure your prompt is clear and unambiguous.
  
  If it is something like a random story, then it’s probably not worth the time to fact-check, but that’s up to you.
