BizTech Q&A 30: Translation software options

BizTech Q&A

Answering your questions about business and technology

Question

Where can I find low-cost translation software/services that we can use to better serve our clientele?

~ Kevin

Answer

Hi Kevin,

The good news is that you have a lot of options.  The bad news is that you have a LOT OF OPTIONS.  Almost too many.

Here are some questions for you to consider -

    • How will your clients use the software?
    • What type of device will they want to use the software on (i.e., desktop, phone, tablet, etc.)?
    • How much will they translate at one time?
    • What languages do you need?

There are more things to consider, but that’s a good starting point.

Here are some options for translation software for computers or mobile devices -

    • Google Translate
    • Microsoft Translator
    • Amazon Translate
    • DeepL
    • ChatGPT
    • Google Gemini
    • Anthropic Claude
    • Weglot
  •

The pricing varies wildly, but most of them have a free option.  Pricing starts if you want advanced features or have to translate a lot of words.

There are also professional translation services where you can call a number and get a person on the phone live who will do the translating for you.  These are typically expensive.  Some examples are:

    • DayTranslations
    • LanguageLine Solutions
    • Alta Language Services

Thanks for the question
