Hello, 

This can actually work surprisingly well.  

The first step is getting your vehicle’s manual in a digital format like a PDF.    Well, technically the first step is figuring out the year, make, and model of your vehicle.  Then you can search for the manual online.

Once you have a digital version of the owner’s manual, here are a couple of options for how you can use it with AI tools to help you diagnose issues that come up -

• Use NotebookLM (notebooklm.google.com) - upload the owner’s manual as a source, and then you can ask whatever questions you have.  It will scan the manual and use it to answer your questions.
• Use ChatGPT (chatgpt.com)
  • Option 1 - Attach the owner’s manual to the prompt and ask your questions
  • Option 2 - Create a custom GPT and use the manual as a source document

In some cases, you can also take a picture of something related to your issue (i.e., a dashboard light, etc.) and add that to the prompt to give the tools more context.
