Hello,
Several reasons come to mind -

- Flash models will usually give you output faster. Techie words are lower latency
- Flash models cost less to use
- You’ll see this more if you are doing API calls but if you are in Gemini (chatbot) then you will have fewer requests that you are permitted to do (i.e., pro 150 requests per minute vs flash 1000 requests per minute)
- Flash models are more likely to be available during high traffic times
- Flash models are less filling and taste great
- They use fewer resources. Read: better for the environment
- They may have access to different tools
- Newer models are usually released before Pro models
