Answering your questions about business and technology
I organized a training workshop for my team where they were shown 20 different scenarios where they could use AI. I thought that would be enough variety for them to start using AI in their day-to-day work. Almost nobody has started using AI. What am I doing wrong?

Hi there,
This one is interesting to me. Mainly because I teach/present these types of workshops all the time and I used to ask similar questions.
Truth is, I can’t speak for everyone (or even most people). I can tell you my opinion and what I’ve been told by people that I’ve asked similar questions to.
The approach may be backwards.
When I talk to people or teams who want to learn how to use AI, a lot of times, that’s all the information that I am given. While I am happy to have the conversation, it usually seems like they leave with a solution and it is on them to search for a problem. This is the backwards part…
Since times are crazy and we are all busy, most people don’t change their normal routines so that they can find ways to apply these new AI solutions.
The people that I work with who use AI tools the most are the ones that come to me with one or more problems that they hope can be solved with AI. Once I show them how the problems can be solved with AI, they immediately apply the solution to the problem(s) and look for ways to repeat the cycle.
If you are looking to change your teams’ habits/behaviors, showing them scenarios that don’t directly apply to their lives or jobs probably won’t interest them for long. Before you go to a workshop to teach everyone AI, gather one or more problems that each of them has (or things that they would like to be able to do with AI tools after the workshop) and work with the instructor to include those things in the workshop. This will give each team member a direct problem > solution association with AI tools. You’ll probably have to go through several problems but I’ve found this to be a much more effective approach.
I now ask for this information from all workshop participants beforehand and it has been really helpful.
Hope that helps
