BizTech Q&A 78: Copyediting assistance

BizTech Q&A

Answering your questions about business and technology

Question

We recently rebranded our website and would like to use AI tools to review our copy for grammar, tone, clarity and consistency.  How can we get started?
~ Anne

Answer

Hi Anne,

This is perfect because you have already done most of the work.

First, choose a tool.  I think that Perplexity would work well for this because it excels with research and websites.  You could also use Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude.

Then turn your question to us into a prompt for the tool.  I said that you did most of the work because you don’t have to change your question much.

Here is an example prompt -

You are a marketing expert, specifically branding, copywriting, and copyediting.  Your task is to review our recently rebranded website and give a thorough review for clarity, consistency, grammar, tone, and flow.  Identify areas for improvement.

Website - [provide site address]
Brand guidelines - [provide brand guidelines, if available]

If the initial output doesn’t work then consider doing a deep research report. You can start with the same prompt and add the things that you did and didn’t like with the initial output from the chatbot.  Deep research reports can take a while but they are usually worth the wait.

Hope that helps

Most people don’t. Then they ask us later how we did that cool AI thing we showed in the video.
