Question

What is Gemini Spark and how can I access it?
~ Joe

Answer

Hi Joe,

Spark is, as Google puts it, “you’re 24/7 personal AI agent”.  Not sure about you but that doesn’t tell me much…

Going a little bit deeper, AI agents, in general, are more focused on doing things (vs. chatbots that stand by to respond) so Spark is designed to carry out tasks for you.

Here are a few examples of what you could have it do -

    •

Extract information from emails and add it to your CRM

    • Scan your calendar, chat, email, etc. and send you a briefing every day with the most important things you need to address

    • Draft and send emails

    • Review your travel needs and book everything (i.e. flights, room, car, meals, etc.)

    •

      Etc.

A lot of chatbots (like Gemini app) stop short of doing things.  Gemini chatbot will draft an email but to send it you have to set up a connector and do a bunch of other things that chatbots weren’t really designed to do.  Since Spark was designed for that, the process is much more seamless.

As far as how you can access it, right now it is only available as part of a Google AI Ultra plan.  The pricing keeps changing on that plan but it has been between $200 - $250 per month.

Google says that Spark will be available for other plans “soon”.  Your guess is as good as mine as to what “soon” means.  Luckily, things have been moving fast in the AI space so they won’t be able to wait too long.

When it is available, it looks like it will just be another tab on the gemini.google.com page.  Of course, that could change too.

Hope that helps.
