There are a lot of teachers and parents out there that are irritated with AI tools. It’s much easier for students to use AI tools to do their work for them.
Anthropic is hoping to change that.
They recently released Claude for Education. If you aren’t familiar with Claude, it is a large language model (LLM) that is similar to ChatGPT. It lets you “talk” to it using human language and can give you information and solve all kinds of problems.
Anyway, Claude for Education is breaking the normal behavior of AI tools. It is designed to help students with critical thinking and problem-solving. It lets them come up with their own answers.
It has a learning mode that asks students how they would approach certain problems and what evidence they have to support their answers.
It can also create study guides and walk through difficult problems step-by-step.
Claude for Education is available to Pro and Team customers. Anthropic is also partnering with colleges and universities, so it may be provided to those students free of charge.
Here is Anthropic’s Claude for Education page in case you want more information.
