How is it almost the end of the year?? I know, I know, it isn’t even Halloween yet, but you know these last few weeks will just fly by in a blur of candy, holidays, and hopefully some snow days.
Most people end December with a vague feeling: “I worked hard, but what did I actually do?”
That’s where your favorite AI chatbot (Claude, Gemini, CoPilot, ChatGPT, whatever, you choose) can help. Instead of staring at old emails and project lists, drop them into a prompt:
“Help me review my work from 2026 using only the notes and files I’ve provided.
Group my work into major themes. For each theme, list specific accomplishments and point to the notes that support them. Identify projects that stalled or changed direction, and separate documented facts from patterns you’ve inferred.
Tell me where the record is too thin to draw a conclusion.
Then add a short “Year in Chaos” section. Count how many times I mentioned Jimothy, donkeys, or capybaras in the material I provided. If the context shows I brought one of them up while I was supposed to be working on something else, roast me.
Keep it funny and specific, like a friend who has seen my browser tabs and is concerned. If you can’t verify the count or whether I was off track, say so. Do not manufacture capybara incidents (or do, whatever, I enjoy them!).
Don’t write the polished performance review yet. I want the evidence and the occasional deserved side-eye first.”
Once you have the summary, add your own commentary. That mix of AI structure plus your own squishy, emotion-filled human reflection turns your chaotic year into a clear narrative…which can be perfect for performance reviews, portfolio updates, LinkedIn posts, or even some good ol’ self-reflection journaling.
