Yeah, I said it.
I will happily give credit and thanks to OpenAI for raising public interest with ChatGPT and blowing up the segment (in a positive way). But, I think that Google is done letting them get all of the credit.
There are so many examples of Google’s dominance in the AI space, but I will just talk about one of their more recent announcements.
Vertex AI Studio is now the only platform that has generative media models across all modalities. That means that they have AI models for creating text, image, video, and audio. You can create and/or edit a full video production on a single platform.
If you’ve never heard of Vertex AI, it’s Google’s platform for machine learning and artificial intelligence engineers. This is their more advanced (and expensive) platform.
It now includes the following models -
- Veo 2 - video generation and editing
- Imagen 3 - image generation
- Chirp 3 - audio generation
- Gemini 2.5 - text generation
