AI Quick Tips 238: Use nano banana to quickly-er remove the background from that image

AI Quick Tips

If you didn’t read the last post about Canva then this one might not make much sense to you.  Oh well, can’t go back…

To summarize, I started with an image of a goat with a goatee (yeah, I said it), and used Canva AI (BG Remover) to, well, remove the background.  They named the tool well.

If you don’t pay for Canva and don’t want to then you can use Google’s new (for now) image tool - Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (street name - nano banana) to remove the background from the image.

Here’s how -

Open Gemini

Drag the image to the prompting area

Prompt it to remove the background from the image

That’s about it.

You can decide if you want a transparent background or if you want it to add a new background.  One thing to note is that it will add the Gemini logo in the bottom right corner.  If you care about that then you might be better off using another tool, like Canva (see AI Quick Tips #237 for the step-by-step).

These tools are improving so quickly that by the time you read this, you’ll probably just have to think about what you want and it will happen (the scary part is that I’m not really joking).
