Since SpaceX is one of Elon Musk’s companies and OpenAI isn’t shy about their feelings towards Musk, they are pulling their models from Cursor.
If you both use Cursor and use OpenAI models in Cursor (i.e., GPT-5.6 Sol), you might want to find some alternatives. Either different models within Cursor or different tools that support OpenAI models.
According to OpenAI’s announcement post, they will remove their models on November 12, 2026 but who knows. That date could easily move up or Cursor could remove them sooner than that.
The good news is that there are plenty of AI coding agents and software development environments available. We would recommend finding a replacement as soon as possible to avoid having unexpected issues. Of course, OpenAI would want you to use Codex…
