But which languages are supported?  To that, I have everyone’s favorite answer - it depends.


I’ve looked it up multiple times and asked several of the chatbots what languages they support and the answer is some version of - it depends on the task.  The more complex the task, the fewer languages will be supported.  


Most of the AI chatbots from larger companies - ChatGPT, Gemini, CoPilot, Claude, etc. support more than 50 languages and they are adding more all the time.  


If you have something that needs to be in multiple languages, it’s worth trying and seeing if going this route can save you some time.


Here is a short example -

Input - Translate the following sentence into Spanish.  <sentence> The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog </sentence>

Output -


Input
- Translate the same sentence into Japanese

Output -


Input
- Translate the same sentence into Icelandic

Output -


It works well or terribly, depending on if it supports the languages you care about.

The most common question I get with this is, “How accurate is it?”  From what I’ve seen, it does as well with other languages as it does with English - 70 - 100% accuracy.  Your mileage may vary.
