AI Quick Tips 88: Dos and don'ts of AI chatbots

If you are just getting started with AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and CoPilot, it might help you to see some things that are recommended.  Also some things that are not recommended.

We’ll provide 3 of each.

Dos

1. Cross-reference output
2. Add “human gatekeepers” around output
   1. Human enters prompt -> AI tool generates output -> Human reviews and edits output
3. Create AI usage policies for businesses

Don’ts

1. Enter sensitive information into the prompt
   1. PII (personally identifiable information), medical info, financial info, etc.
2. Use for legal output
3. Assume that the output is safe to use
   1. May have a copyright, trademark, etc.

These tools are great, but they are just that: tools.  They are not applicable in all situations, and you have to do your due diligence when using them.
