AI Quick Tips 269: What image aspect ratios does Nano Banana Pro support?

AI Quick Tips

One of the useful features of the new Gemini 3 Pro Image model (aka Nano Banana Pro) is that it can easily create or edit images in a variety of aspect ratios.  This is useful because different social media platforms require specific aspect ratios for images.  And, of course, they are all different.

Here is a chart from Google’s documentation with all of the aspect ratios that are supported (along with resolution and token information) -

A table detailing image Aspect ratio, Resolution, and required Tokens for AI image generation. The aspect ratios range from 1:1 to 21:9. It shows that resolutions for 1K and 2K consistently cost 1,210 tokens, while 4K resolutions cost 2,000 tokens across all aspect ratios. This table shows the cost difference based on resolution, not aspect ratio.

Sometimes you’ll have to prompt it more than once before it gets the aspect ratio right but it should be helpful to know upfront which ones are supported.

The robot holds a wrench and is presenting a holographic screen with icons for settings, a light bulb, and video. Blueprints for video production, floating play button icons, and a studio light surround them. A small, orange, construction-hat-wearing creature is watching the process.
