Just to save you some time, if you don’t know what Google’s Firebase Studio is, you can probably skip this one (they are getting rid of it so this would be a bad time to start using it).
If you do use FIrebase Studio and you haven’t heard, Google is sunsetting it and encouraging people to migrate their projects to one of their other products.
Firebase Studios started to let people see what is possible when they combined full-stack development and AI. Since Google now has Google AI Studio, Vertex AI Studio, Antigravity, etc. there’s a lot of overlap with their AI + developer offerings so they are looking to consolidate.
Using their words:
- For code-first agentic development, they are focusing on Antigravity, their next-generation IDE designed for high-velocity autonomous workflows
- For rapid, browser-based prototyping, they’ve integrated Cloud FIrestore and Firebase Authentication directly into Google AI Studio to provide the fastest path from prompt to production
So basically, what you migrate to depends on how you use Firebase Studio.
You have about 1 year to transition.
Here are the timeline details:
- March 19, 2026 - Sunset announcement and migration tools start rolling out to Firebase Studio
- June 22, 2026 - New workspace creation is disabled but you can continue to work in and migrate existing workspaces
- March 22. 2027 - Firebase Studio will be shutdown and all remaining data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered
Full details including instructions on how to migrate to Google AI Studio or Antigravity are here - https://firebase.google.com/docs/studio/migrating-project
