There have been “leaks” and “teases” for a while now, but Google has finally released information about their successor to the Chromebook. They are calling it the Googlebook (yes, seriously). I’m not sure if this is a placeholder name or the final name. Time will tell.
What is the Googlebook?
This device will basically be a combination of an Android device (think cell phone) and Chromebook that is built around, of course, Gemini. They are hoping to create a new category of laptop.
There isn’t a ton of information out about them yet but here are some of the finer points -
- They will have a smart mouse pointer that will AI features built in like context suggestions, combining images, and instant meeting setup
- You will be able to prompt Gemini and create custom widgets
- They are creating a seamless experience between your Googlebook and your Android phone, like quick file access
- You’ll also be able to open your phone’s apps on your laptop without installing anything
This seems to be their answer to recent Apple devices that came out that creates a similar seamless experience between laptop and iPhone. It will be a nice option for people who use Apple devices.
