When you start paying attention to the models that you are using with AI tools, you’ll eventually come across flash models. These are smaller, faster models that can’t do as much as some other models but you may want to use them anyway.
You know, I’ve said this multiple times before - Google is winning the AI race. And it isn’t close.
With the release of GPT-5, OpenAI hoped to make things less confusing for the average ChatGPT user. I’m not sure they succeeded.
I’m going through several examples that compare OpenAI’s new flagship model to their old one because I keep hearing and seeing so much negative feedback.
That’s led to a lot of beginners and casual users to question what the point of it is.

Another category of language models that you will come across is the specialized model. This is more of a catch-all category for a lot of different types of models.
Reasoning models are trained and tuned for tasks requiring, well, reasoning. Not helpful, I know.
